Yes, stories can be told effectively without delving into the physical and emotional intricacies of a love scene. The consistently high sales of ‘sweet’ romances prove there is a market for books without such scenes.

But adding sex to the relationship has the power to bring the story and the relationship to a new level. As well as excitement, pleasure and intimacy, sex can also bring confusion, jealousy and emotional pain. All these elements increase the tension in a romance and raise the emotional stakes.

Not all of us are totally comfortable reading about or talking about sex, let alone writing about it. Or maybe we are, but just not sure how to go about it convincingly.

This workshop, conducted by published erotica and romance writer Sarma Burdeu, is suitable for all skill levels. It is interactive, with personal feedback and questions along the way are welcomed. The group will be ‘self-paced’, finding its own time-frame, running between 10 days to 3 weeks depending on participants’ requirements
