Cheryl Wright - Award Winning Australian Author

I'm an Australian author and freelance journalist, also (occasionally) writing under the pseudonym of Andrea Higgins-Wright.

My publication credits include (but are not limited to): Australian Target Magazine, Judas Ezine, Without a Clue, Romancing the Word, Chinwag, Images, Romancing Australia, Outlook, Poets Journey, Women on Writing, Fiction Factor, Write Success, Too Write, Write Craft, Bobbing Around,

Writing Australia, Writer’s Weekly, The Grapevine, Absolute Write, Bad GirlsPress, Writer’s Craft Web, L-Edit Slip, The Writer’s Room Magazine, Writer’s Break, Voices Anthology, and Arabella Magazine.

For six years I was editor-in-chief of a staff magazine, and I'm currently editor for a local newsletter - that's been happening for around three years now. I do freelance editing and am a contracted freelance book editor for an overseas publishing house. I'm also an editor for a world-wide writer's co-operative.

I've judged many (fiction) writing competitions, and until January 2005, wrote a monthly travel article for a magazine in the US. That lasted almost three years - until they changed the focus of the magazine. They asked me to stay on, but the new subject matter didn't interest me at all, (articles about wine - I'm a tee-totaler!) so opted out. Until recently I was a regular columnist for a subscription site for writers, and have had copious articles for writers published, covering techniques for both fiction and non-fiction. Many of those can be found on this site, and I'll be adding to those as time permits. Most recently, I've joined the team at Beginnings Magazine, which is a print magazine for novice writers.

In addition to being multi-published in non-fiction articles, short stories, poetry and humour articles, I am the author of best selling ebooks Think Outside the Square: Writing Publishable (Short) Stories, I Wanna Win! - Tips for Becoming an Award Winning Writer and my latest book Outside the Square Fiction Workshop. You can check out all my books by clicking here. I also conduct online fiction workshops when time permits, as well as presenting workshops to conferences, libraries, schools, and writer's groups.

My debut novel Saving Emma was released January 1, 2005 and was #9 bestseller (February 2005) #7 bestseller (May 2005) Publisher's Pick (August 2005) and #3 bestseller (August 2005) - all of which make me incredibly happy. My contract with this publisher has finished, and the book is to be re-released by The Wild Rose Press - I don't have a release date as yet.

Oh, and another book was released December 2005 - this one entirely different.  It's called A Very Aussie Christmas, and includes all of my favourite Christmas recipes, most of which have been in my family for many years - some for generations.

I also contributed to an anthology about cancer called Cancer: A Personal Challenge. Both my parents died from lung cancer, so the subject is very dear to my heart. You can read about the book here.

In addition to that book, I've also contributed to seven non-fiction books - six are already published, and the other is scheduled for release soon.

Fiction on the Hop is my most recent fiction release.  My writing buddy, Sarah Cook, and I put together our most favourite short stories, many of them award-winners.  You can find that book at Sarah's site, as well as mine.

Another book is scheduled for release Summer/Spring 2008 (US seasons).  The Write Resources is a book full of tips and resources for writers.  Practically all the resources in the book are free, and most are on the internet.  This book is to be published by Central Avenue Press.

What else can I tell you? Hmmmm..... maybe that around six years ago I had not been published? Perhaps you'd like to know that I have a debilitating lung disease and a major immune deficiency. I have four-weekly transfusions for the latter, and have to be hospitalised with pneumonia at least once a year, but I don't let any of this stop me.

If I can do it, you can too!

Writer2Writer.com - How it began, what resources it has:

Hey there, writers!

This site started out as a passing suggestion from another writer, one I brushed aside almost immediately. That is, until another writer suggested it, and another, and another… well, you get the picture, I’m sure.

So finally, many months down the track, it all began to happen.

The site has been gradually getting bigger over the last five years or so, and continues to grow. Articles are added on a regular basis, resources will be sought, found and listed.

This website is constantly under construction - and will continue to be so while ever I can find more to add. In other words, it will always be under construction.

Stop by our recommended resources page and check out the software, books, workshops, ezines etc that will either give your writing business a kick-start, or help you further your writing career. The majority of products found on these pages are vetted either by me, or a member of my staff (or someone we know personally). If we don't believe it's worth the money, we don't promote it.

Not only can you source a large range of good quality products for writers, but we also have a large number of writing-related freebies available.

There are a number of free email workshops available, and I will add more as appropriate courses are sourced. Oh, and don’t forget to sign up for the *Award Winning* Writer to Writer ezine - a FREE monthly ezine for writers of fiction and non-fiction. Featuring tips on writing, marketing, selling and more. (There are regular specials just for subscribers too! There's also a download library with loads of good quality products that subscribers get for free!)

If you’re wondering what makes me qualified to run a site like this one, to offer advice to other writers, have a read of my profile and decide for yourself whether I am or not. You'll see that I'm a working writer, making income from my writing on a very regular basis. (I write full-time, and writing is my only income!)

If you would like to be kept up to date with changes to the website, new products added, upcoming workshops etc., I urge you to join the Writer to Writer ezine. For full details of this ezine, click here.
